  • What vaccinations does a puppy need?

Puppies usually receive vaccinations at 6 weeks, 8weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks of age. All of our puppies are up to date with all shots for their age when they are purchased. It is up to the purchaser of the puppy as the new owner to take the puppy to the vet and keep up with all other vaccinations!

Our puppies are also dewormed every 2 weeks, as they are in a kennel environment much like a daycare. Deworming may occur up to 4 months of age as puppies can get worms from their mother’s milk. It us up to the purchaser of the puppy as the new owner to continue with any deworming that is recommended by their vet!

  • What should be my first step after I purchase my puppy?

At Puppy World, in order for our warranty to be activated we do require the purchaser to take their new puppy to the vet within the first 7 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING. We do offer a free exam at the vets we work with, which you will receive a coupon with the information to those vets. This first exam not only activates our warranty, but also allows you to get a physical on your new puppy and get established with a vet if you do not already have one! They will also be able to let you know when to come back for any remaining shots and/or deworming your puppy may need!

  • What do I need when I first get a puppy?

Food, dishes for food and water, training treats, chewies, A LOT of toys, and a wire training kennel. These would all be necessities for a first-time dog owner. Training treats can be used as an award when your puppy does what you asked them to. They can be used for potty training, sit, stay, and basic tasks as a positive reinforcement. Chewies like bully sticks, rawhide alternatives and toys are a necessity for keeping your puppy busy and entertained, so they do not resort to chewing on things they are not suppose to. A training kennel is used as a baby sitter. While you are not home or sleeping, the kennel is a safe place to keep your puppy to insure they do not get into any trouble. It also helps with potty training while teaching them to wait until you are home to go potty!

  • What do your puppies all include?

All of our puppies do include they are up to date with all shots and deworming for their age, come with our warranty on life and hips which can be read through on our website, they are always vet checked before arriving, and are microchipped!

  • What is a microchip?

All of our puppies are microchipped through Home Again microchip services. A microchip is not a tracker, so you will not be able to track your dog if they run away. Once you register your puppy with your information, it will be programed into the microchip that has already been placed in your dog. If they were to run away, get lost, or stolen and end up at a vet or humane society they would be able to notify you that they have your dog.

  • Are our puppies spayed or neutered?

All of our puppies are between 2 to 4 months of age, so they are too young to be spayed/neutered. Spaying/neutering is a responsibility of the new owner if they prefer to have that done.

  • How do I choose puppy food?

All of our puppies go home with a bag of Health Extension food. This brand is a holistic hard dog food for all life stages! They offer a variety of flavors, food sizes, and grain free options to accommodate all dogs!

  • What treats and toys are good for puppies?

Any rawhide alternative is great for young puppy. Rawhide can be hard on a dog’s stomach and can be hard to digest. You want to make sure you are giving an all-natural treat that will last long and keep your puppy busy! Brands we sell that have variety of treats are Red Barn, Vital Essentials, and Bark Harvest.

  • How do I get my new puppy used to grooming?

When taking home, a puppy that will have to get frequent grooming, it is always recommended to get them used to being handled at home from a young age. At home, you want to make sure you are brushing them frequently, get them used to touching their paws and face, and holding their paws to get them ready for nail trims. It is always important to bring them in for frequent hair cuts or trims to they do not get matted. Matting can be painful for dogs which can result in them acting out while getting groomed.
